Flor de Caña

Opening night: 23 April 2009 - CAMPO victoria,Gent

Flor de Cana is a sketchbook of memories from a far past. A show about the confrontation between a selfconscious European woman with her native country and her Latin-American roots. Georgina was born in Nicaragua, moved to the Netherlands, and eventually came to live in Belgium. She takes that journey with her in her on-stage story, face to face with actor (now dancer) Guy Dermul.

It is an intimate story about rebelliousness against one’s own culture and individuality.

This is a story. My story. About being a woman, loving and saying goodbye.
About the constant presence or absence of another. A father, a lover, a history?
About fighting against cultures and yearning for them.
About drawing the line and about me.
