In 1999 Chokri and Zouzou Ben Chikha created their first multicultural youth production, Inch Allah. The succes of the production created opportunities to continue working along the same lines. In 2000, they produced the youth project Spoor 10. In 2001, the theatre company Nit Nithei Garabam mounted the youth project Bruine Suiker.
In 2001, the first performance of Les Glandeurs had its première: Grensstraat 41 Rue de la limite. The show came out of the Théâtre de Galafronie, who also provided technical support. A seccond production soon followed, L'Hafa, a co-production of the Théâtre de Galafronie, Union Suspecte et Les Glandeurs. From 2003, the name of Union Suspecte appeared on productions such as L'Hafa, directed by Ruud Gielens. Their name was also associated with the youth project VIVeALDI!, directed by Chokri Ben Chikha. Union Suspecte decided in 2003 to launch a collaboration with the Publiekstheater, for their first major production, De Leeuw van Vlaanderen. After a number of succesful performances, Les Glandeurs and Nit Nithei Garabam merged definitively with the Union Suspecte theater company.
In September 2004the vzw Union Suspecte came into existence. The collective expanded to consist of an artistic core of four people: Chokri and Zouzou Ben Chikha, Ruud Gielens and Mourade Zeguendi. Femke Vandenbosch left Union Suspecte in 2005. The same year, Flore Opsomer took up the post of managing director of the company. In autumn 2006, a fifth member joined the artistic team of Union Suspecte: Haider Al Timimi. In August 2008, Chokri Ben Chikha decided to leave the collective. In 2009 Union Suspecte thus consists of a collective of five artistic members: Haider Al Timimi, Zouzou Ben Chikha, Ruud Gielens, Flore Opsomer and Mourade Zeguendi.
The Flemish Community granted Union Suspecte a two-year subsidy for 2006-2007. At the moment, the company receives structural subsidies from the Flemish Community for 2010-2012. Union Suspecte also receives structural subsidies from the province of East Flanders and from the Stedenfonds (city foundation) Ghent.
